Plant Biology (Interdepartmental Graduate Major)

2009 IPB Faculty/Student Retreat
The annual Plant Biology Faculty/Student Retreat, organized by Dr. Bing Yang, was held on Saturday, August 29, 2009, in the Gold Room of the ISU Memorial Union. A total of 25 students and 10 faculty members attended the events. The Program Chair Dr. Steve Whitham introduced new students and faculty members and updated the status of Plant Biology program. The Plant Biology program thanked outgoing chair, Dr. Kan Wang, for her past three years of service to the program. Six faculty members gave lectures on their research programs and seven students presented posters on their graduate projects. A poster reviewing committee (two faculty and two students) selected the top two poster presentations. Yiji Xia (GDCB) of Dr. Pat Schnable's lab and Alexis Campbell of Dr. Basil Nikolau's lab won the first ($150 travel grant) and second ($100 chemical store voucher) prizes, respectively. Four door prizes were given to two faculty and two students.
